YUVADEEPTI SMYM

The Youth Apostolate -YUVADEEPTI- of the Archdiocese of Changanacherry was established on 3rd December 1972. The founder of this Organization is His Grace Mar Joseph Powathil and the movement was inaugurated by Mar. Antony Padiyara at Kallarackal HalI, S. B.College Changanacherry. Yuvadeepti-SMYM is the youth apostolate of Changanacherry Archdiocese. Yuvadeepti is a part of KCYM – Kerala Catholic Youth Movement, which is affiliated to ICYM – Indian Catholic Youth Movement. As the name suggests Yuvadeepti is national wide catholic youth organization which is aiming at the integral development of every youth. The word “Yuvadeepti” is joined by two words “Yuva” and “Deepti”. “Yuva” means youth and “Deepti” means light. Yes we are to give the light of Jesus to our youth.

Heavenly Patron Thomas Moore

Thomas Moore (28 May 1779 – 25 February 1852), was an Irish writer, poet, and lyricist celebrated for his Irish Melodies. His setting of English-language verse to old Irish tunes marked the transition in popular Irish culture from Irish to English. Politically, Moore was recognised in England as a press, or "squib", writer for the aristocratic Whigs; in Ireland he was accounted a Catholic patriot.

Mar Joseph Powathil

Joseph Powathil was an Indian prelate of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church. He was the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Archeparchy of Changanassery, serving from 1985 until 2007. He was also the first bishop of Kanjirappally, having served from 1977 to 1985.

Cardinal Antony Padiyara

Antony Padiyara was a Syro-Malabar Catholic cardinal and the first Major Archbishop of Ernakulam-Angamaly. Before serving as Major Archbishop from 1985 to 1996, he previously served as Bishop of Ootacamund and Archbishop of Changanassery.
